OKBET NBA Basketball, we’ll feature The Five subjects you need to know coming into a new week of NBA action every Monday throughout the 2022-23 season.

PRESEASON SUMMARY

We needed an appetizer before diving into the 82-course banquet that is the NBA regular season at OKBET NBA Basketball, and the preseason provided just enough to whet our appetite during the previous two weeks.

We got our first look at some of the league’s new rosters, saw some notable players return from injury, and got our first peek at this year’s rookie class. And, of course, there were plenty of highlights, headed by the ever-reliable Ja Morant.

The Sixers and Kings will be hoping that their preseason success translates into regular season success, as both teams ended 4-0 at OKBET NBA Basketball, with Sacramento outscoring opponents by a massive 27.5 points per game. On the other hand, the Bucks were winless in five preseason games while the Lakers went 1-5.

TUESDAY NIGHT OPENING

Summer League and preseason were entertaining ways to get a taste of what’s to come, but the actual season starts on Tuesday with a TNT doubleheader on OKBET NBA Basketball. Boston and Golden State, who played in last year’s Finals, will host their opening games of the season against Philadelphia and Los Angeles, respectively.

In Boston, the Celtics will dedicate a new court featuring Bill Russell’s No. 6 painted onto the parquet surface. Once the game begins, we’ll witness the debut of Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazzulla, who replaces the banned Ime Udoka in an attempt to guide Boston to another long playoff run.

Before starting off against the Lakers, the Warriors will unveil their championship banner and get their 2022 title rings in San Francisco. In the season opener, LeBron James will also begin his pursuit of Kareem Abdul-career Jabbar’s scoring record, which the superstar could break within 50 games.

IMPORTANT DEBUTS AND RETURNS

Returns of Interest

With the amount of players that missed the majority or the full of last season, you could create an All-Star squad.

• Kawhi Leonard’s final game was on June 14, 2021. (18 months)
• Ben Simmons’s last game was on June 20, 2021. (18 months)
• Zion Williamson’s last game was on May 4, 2021. (19 months)
• Jamal Murray’s last game was on April 12, 2021. (20 months)
• John Wall’s last game was on April 23, 2021. (20 months)
• Damian Lillard’s final game was on December 31, 2021. (10 months)

With the exception of Lillard, tip-off week will mark the formal return to the floor for everyone of these All-Star players after missing the previous year and a half of activity.

Leonard and Wall will join Paul George (who missed 52 games last season) on a Clippers team that has been dubbed the league’s co-favorite in the West (together with Golden State) by general managers on OKBET NBA Basketball. If the team can remain healthy, it has the potential to compete with anybody in the league.

Zion returns to a Pelicans team that went through the Play-In Tournament and took the top-seeded Suns to six games in the first round last season. Since Zion last played, the Pelicans have traded for CJ McCollum and drafted some young talent, positioning New Orleans as one of the league’s best young teams.

Murray and Michael Porter Jr. (who last played in November 2021) return to Denver, ready to reunite with two-time Kia MVP Nikola Jokic. Simmons was transferred from Philadelphia to Brooklyn at the trade deadline last season, but he never played. It will be interesting to see how his game interacts with fellow All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, particularly early in the season.

When Dame Time is on the floor, the OKBET NBA is always better. One of the game’s top clutch shooters was hindered by a chronic stomach issue that eventually necessitated surgery. Can Lillard lead the Blazers back to the playoffs now that he’s healthy?

Debuts of Rookies

In addition to the return of the All-Stars, a fresh crop of youthful talent was added in the 2022 OKBET NBA Draft. With the first overall choice, Orlando picked Paolo Banchero, who should get plenty of playing time with a Magic team loaded with youthful talent. Unfortunately, No. 2 choice Chet Holmgren will not be with OKC this season due to a season-ending injury sustained over the summer for the OKBET NBA Basketball.

Many people had Jabari Smith at the top of many mock drafts before into the Draft, but he ended up going to Houston at No. 3. The Kings picked Keegan Murray at No. 4, and he went on to earn Summer League MVP honors. The Pistons selected guard Jaden Ivey, who will join last year’s first overall selection Cade Cunningham, to finish out the top five choices.

Debuts of a New Team

We can’t forget about the ‘Same Face in New Places’ gang, as three All-Stars switched clubs this offseason. As part of their rebuilding efforts for the OKBET NBA Basketball, the Jazz chose to trade both Rudy Gobert (to Minnesota) and Donovan Mitchell (to Cleveland). Meanwhile, the Hawks acquired Dejounte Murray from the Spurs to partner alongside Trae Young in the backcourt.

We don’t have any homecoming games for these three players in Week 1, but keep those dates in mind for future editions of The Five.

NATIONAL TV GAMES MARQUEE MATCHUPS

In addition to the previously stated opening-night doubleheader, here’s a brief glance at the other highlight games on ESPN and TNT this week.

7:30 p.m., New York at Memphis ET

There may not be a greater “must see” player in the league than Ja Morant. He genuinely is a highlight reel in person form, but because the “Human Highlight Film” label has already been claimed by the famous Dominique Wilkins, we must come up with a new appellation that captures Morant’s skills. I’m going to go with “TikTok” because every time he comes onto the court, it’s a countdown to his next viral moment.

When the Grizzlies visit the Knicks, don’t miss Ja (or Obi Toppin, who had a great windmill dunk in the preseason).

Dallas hosts Phoenix at 10 p.m. ET

This is their first meeting since Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals, when the Mavericks ended the top-seeded Suns’ season in humiliating manner, leading by as many as 46 points and cruising to a 33-point victory to go to the West Finals at the OKBET NBA Basketball. Can the Suns extract retaliation on Luka Doncic and the Mavericks in the season opener?

7:30 p.m., Milwaukee at Philadelphia ET

This is a game between two of the Eastern Conference’s best contenders, as both clubs finished 51-31 previous season but were ousted in the second round of the playoffs. Both clubs have championship hopes and will face a stiff test to begin the season. Last season, Joel Embiid became the first center to lead the NBA in scoring since Shaquille O’Neal. What will he do in 2022-23?

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers, 10 p.m. ET

The Lakers “host” the Clippers at OKBET.com Arena in Week 1 of the Los Angeles fight. The Clippers have swept the city series the last two seasons and come into this game with a seven-game winning run versus the Lakers. This is the Clippers’ first regular-season game in nearly a year and a half, so we’ll get our first glimpse at Kawhi Leonard and John Wall.

7:30 p.m., Boston vs. Miami ET

This is the first time the Celtics and Heat have met since Game 7 of last year’s Eastern Conference finals, when the Heat nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback in the final minutes, capped off by a go-ahead 3-point attempt by Jimmy Butler that fell just short as the Celtics held on to advance to the OKBET NBA Finals. Both of these clubs finished 1-2 in the East last season and are poised for another great run this season.

10 p.m. Denver at Golden State ET

This is Jokic, Murray, and Porter Jr.’s first national television game, as they will all be on the floor together to begin the 2022-23 season. The Nuggets face a Warriors team that eliminated them in five games in the first round of the playoffs last year.

GAMES TO WATCH ON THE LEAGUE PASS

Week 1 on NBA League Pass is highlighted by rookie debuts. Don’t forget that by joining up now, you can enjoy a seven-day free trial.

7 p.m. Orlando at Detroit ET

The 2022-23 OKBET NBA League Pass schedule begins with a clash between the two most recent No. 1 overall lottery selections — Orlando’s Paolo Banchero and Detroit’s Caden Cunningham – in the season opener for both clubs.

7:30 p.m., New Orleans at Brooklyn ET

For the first time in over 18 months, we will see both Zion Williamson of New Orleans and Ben Simmons of Brooklyn when the Nets visit the Pelicans in the season opening for both teams.

7:30 p.m. Cleveland at Toronto ET

Donovan Mitchell makes his regular-season debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers, forming an All-Star backcourt with Darius Garland. This game also includes the top two finishers from last year’s Rookie of the Year race: Toronto’s Scottie Barnes and Cleveland’s Evan Mobley.

Memphis hosts Houston at 8 p.m. ET

This matchup includes a slew of young promising guards, including Houston’s Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green, led by Grizzlies phenom Ja Morant. This is also Houston rookie Jabari Smith Jr.’s second game of the season.

8 p.m. Jazz vs. Timberwolves ET

Rudy Gobert won’t have to wait long to face his old club when the Timberwolves play the Jazz in the first week of the season. This isn’t Gobert’s homecoming game (we’ll get to that later), but it’s always a game to remember whenever you play your previous team.

Los Angeles Clippers against. Sacramento Kings, 10 p.m. ET

Both clubs’ second game of the season, however this might be Keegan Murray’s season debut, since he is presently in health and safety procedures and may miss Sacramento’s season opener on Wednesday.

3:30 p.m. Portland at Los Angeles Lakers ET

Damian Lillard has been one of the game’s most durable players, missing just 38 games in his first nine seasons. However, an abdominal ailment sidelined him for 53 games last season, depriving the NBA of Dame Time. But Lillard is back, and the Blazers finish the season in Los Angeles against LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers.

What steps should you take if you want to bet but aren’t sure where to go or how to play the games? If you go to the OKBET sports, you will be able to find any extra information that you require.
